My practice
Litigation, intellectual property and regulatory law
I am a lawyer and notary public in Toronto, Canada.
I focus on regulatory and administrative law, especially as it relates to pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and other products governed by Health Canada and the provincial health regulators; patent, industrial design, copyright and trademark disputes; and litigation in those fields in the Ontario and federal courts.
I combine my chemical engineering training with 25 years of cutting-edge experience in administrative law, regulatory law and intellectual property (IP) law to provide my clients with practical, business-focused advice, and to help them resolve or litigate their commercial disputes.
My clients include regulators, businesses and health professionals in the pharmaceutical, medical device and natural health product spaces, and in other areas regulated by Health Canada and the provincial health authorities.
I have taught litigation procedure and remedies as an invited guest lecturer at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, and at continuing legal education events held by the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association and the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada.
I am a Fellow of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, a registered trademark agent (inactive licence) in Canada, and a notary public in Ontario. I am also a Hearing Officer appointed by Toronto City Council to hear and decide appeals brought before the City’s Administrative Penalty Tribunal.
I advise clients and litigate cases in English and in French.
I am proud to have been a volunteer lawyer at the free legal clinic at The 519, a downtown Toronto community centre, for ten years.
